HISTORY // Professional experiences in journalism, entrepreneurship, teaching and international consulting, have helped me build a fluency in design thinking as an approach to tackling complex problems.

This background informs and characterises the value of my contributions to projects. I hope to continue adding different experiences in roles to come.
TV JOURNALISM
Role: 5 years as Researcher and Assistant Producer
Clients included: BBC, Reuters & Channel 4

After studying English language and literature at Leeds University, I began my professional life working in TV production. I received additional training when I enrolled at London College of Communication where I studied for a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism.

Over five years, I contributed to a range of factual productions at some leading media organisations. These experiences provided me with a good foundation for ethnographic work, and gave me valuable opportunities to develop my natural aptitude for communication.
NEWS INNOVATION
Roles: 2 years as Product Manager
Organisations: Civicboom (RIP) and NewsFixed (acquired)

After several years working up the hierarchy of production roles, I became interested in the fertile and fast-changing area of news technology innovation.

Taking opportunities to help launch two exciting early stage startups, I began to engage with design approaches through the necessity that is characteristic of entrepreneurial environments.

These opportunities exposed me to the growing influence of people centred approaches in entrepreneurial contexts, and pushed me to learn about the discipline through industry interactions and informal mentorship arrangements.
UX DESIGN
Role: 1 year as UX Designer and UX Teaching Assistant
Organisations: Friday and
General Assembly

After finishing my involvement with both startups, I continued to learn more about the UX skillset in the workplace while working for several full-service agencies.

Subsequently, I was I was able to formalise my knowledge with General Assembly as a teaching assistant on their UX Design Immersive course.
SERVICE DESIGN CONSULTING
Role: 2 years as Interaction Designer
Organisations:
Quicksand

This summer (2017) I returned to the UK after nearly two years living and working in New Delhi with the innovation and design strategy consultancy, Quicksand Design Studio.

I worked as a Senior Associate (specialising in Interaction Design), and worked on an agile, cross-disciplinary team (of visual designers, technologists, design researchers and business strategists) to tackle diverse problems in for-profit and not-for-profit contexts.
